Caption types that drive the highest engagement

Writing captions for Instagram posts is an important step that is often neglected. Although pictures are the first thing that we see on Instagram, captions are a huge source of engagement if we use them correctly. There are certain types of captions that usually drive a higher engagement and have the power to convince users to like, comment, share or save them. If you speak Persian, you can go ahead and watch my video. Otherwise, please keep reading.

Here are these caption types:

1. Topics that people can agree or disagree with

When a topic has supporters and opponents, it is more likely that people comment on it. Talk about such topics and pick a side, ask your followers to choose their side of the story and tell you why they believe so. These topics are not only interesting to think and talk about, but also make your audience feel seen and important since you are asking for their opinion. For example, if you believe working remotely is more interesting than commuting to an office every day, you can ask if everyone agrees with you or not. This also works for business pages if you choose topics related to what you do.

2. Anything that people typically have an idea about it

There are things that people enjoy to talk about and express themselves. When you bring it up, they would be happy to join the conversation. The examples depend highly on your audience. In my Instagram page, work conditions is an interesting topic for many of my followers. Whenever I bring up problems and experiences from the past, there are friends who would like to share their experiences too. You can gradually find these topics in your channels based on your relationship with your followers. If you’re working on a business page, this still works based on the area of the business and what followers actually care about.

3. Things that arise sympathy

Certain things that include emotional moments and experiences are usually hard to share. But, if you feel like sharing, these pieces of content usually work because they create a very friendly atmosphere in your channel and your followers can feel close to you. On the other hand, they can find similarities between you and themselves when you share personal stuff. Of course if you choose to share such contents, beware of the possibility of being bullied. Misuse of such content can be hard to cope with. So you might want to keep very private stuff to yourself.

4. Your achievements and special events

It is true that not all followers are fans; however, it’s likely that the majority of your social media friends will be happy to know about your achievements or be a part of special events in your life. You might have noticed putting so much effort in creating something amazing and getting more engagement on a silly photo from your birthday! Because everyone cares to say congratulations on your special day! If you are managing a business page, this is still useful; you can share milestones, new features, new records and anything that your fans might find interesting.

5. Entertaining content that many people can relate to

An entertaining piece of content can reach high engagement for different reasons. One good reason would be relating. Look for things that happen to many people and try to picture it the best way you can. That will guarantee receiving so many comments that say “oh yes that is so true”!
